General Hardware Shenanigans Thread

I only said that because GTX 590 uses two GPUs connected via SLI.

close, but not quite right.
dual gpu cards (radeon 6990, 590) are not actually two gpus connected by SLI/crossfire, but actually linked together on the board itself.

as for why you would buy one over a dual gpu setup.... maybe less power consumption and *maybe* cooler, but for a larger price, much more noise and less processing power (the cards are lower clocked than their single gpu counterparts)
they may also not have the issues that crossfire/SLI have with some games not supporting them, but don't hold my word to it because I do not know.

you also should not need one of these, as a high end single gpu should do you absolutely fine unless you feel the need to power multiple 2500x1900(ish) monitors with a game like battlefield 3 (hint: you should not, spend the money on more games, orphans, or me :D)

I want a 690 and a sandy bridge. Oh yeah I also want money to fund this unhealthy obsession with hardware.

690 benchmarks - me impressed with temps. Wanna see what AMD are planning for their 7990 now.
