It's probably because of the nature of the GL and the RL and how you can just spam the splash damage in a enclosed space and not have to have any sort of aim at all. As long as the guy is inside and you aim in his general direction the splash will take him down very quickly.
Depends on the size of the interior, but you're right. But in any case, it's variety. A capper could choose to take a tunnel for a quick, unexposed route home, but he might be putting himself in great danger were the chasers too close.
Why do we have to be so concerned about precise aiming all of the time? That's like 98% of Legions. Couldn't we break it up now and then with some good old frantic chaos?
