ex tribes players may pick it up faster... er... nah. Really just comes down the the individual and how quickly they can adapt.

If my computer is ever able to run this, I think the thing that will be the hardest for me to master is the skiing. Tribes skiing is very different to legions skiing.

Second Todd Harris interview: http://www.tribesnetwork.com/apps/podcast/podcast/96364

Cliffs:

E3 appearance: Nope. Skipping it this year, but will be attending both Quakecon (August 4-7) and PAX West (September 3-5).

Gameplay footage: End of June.

Server support: Centralized/Hi-Rez-hosted servers, possibility of private servers.

UI: Elements of Tribes 2 UI (team/clan-based features).

Maps: Classic map designs (large, open, base structures), 16v16/ on the PC. Currently playtesting 4 maps on regular basis. Drydock, Broadside-inspired map called Crossfire, faithful recreation of Katabatic, Ark’s Nevena (sp?), urban environment, hard to fly through, sewer system.

Mod support: Not at release; low priority.

Game modes: CTF, TDM, Rabbit so far. Long list of potential game modes to add.

PC/Xbox 360: PC is first and top priority, consoles secondary.

What’s new?: Modern UI, maps embrace skiing, uses a credit-based system to purchase items (deployables), ranks/leveling for character profiles.

Beta: Continuing through summer, likely closed beta. Open beta likely after PAX West.

That's juicy info. Good, too. I can only give a huge thumbs up to their focus on PC, their tight release schedule and map designs. But no mod decent support? Aren't they kind of shooting themselves in the foot there? That's worrying.

Recent French interview:

How the ski works there? The maximum speed will be limited does?

Our goal is to ski "easy to learn, but hard to master."For those who have never skied, it is to use your jetpack to climb to the top of a hill and then slide on the other side at high speed. With practice, an experienced player can use his momentum and gravity to move extremely quickly over long distances. There will be no speed limit, so an experienced player will move very differently from a beginner, whether on land or in the air. It's really the combination of skiing and jetpack that makes the movement of *Tribes: Ass-End* also nice and very different from other FPS.

How many new weapons and packs (energy pack, repair pack, etc..) Would you suggest?

Most of the armor and packs iconic Tribes will be present. We also plan to introduce new weapons during and after the beta.An example of a new weapon, the Arx Buster: it takes three quick mini-sticky grenades whose explosions are linked. The weapon can be used when one anticipates the trajectory of an opponent trying to ski, to pull ahead where it touches the ground.Grenades can also cling to players and objects such as deployable turrets. It is therefore an entirely new weapon, but is really fit into the gameplay of Tribes.

How do you manage the Tribes community is known to be populated by hardcore gamers and fanatics?

We listen carefully to this community. We comply with the hardcore gamers, but we do not blindly obey them.:)

Our goal is to reintroduce the license Tribes and meet more than a million players around the world! It involves preserving the elements which form the basis of Tribes, but to modernize the game when necessary.

Irrational Games is a studio gifted, yet Tribes: Vengeance has not sold very well. How do you explain it and what will you do to avoid it?

It is certain that the success of our game is not guaranteed.I can not fully explain the low sales of Tribes: Vengeance, or the huge sales of a game like Angry Birds on smartphone (although I admit love Angry Birds).I know that Tribes: Vengeance was released at the same time as Doom 3, Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 and has received much less marketing which has certainly had an influence. With *Tribes: Ass-End*, we intend to continually support the game and update it after its release. Our best chance of success is to release a game fun for players to advise their friends, while supporting the game up and out of updates. For us, the release of *Tribes: Ass-End* will mark the beginning not the end.

What is the platform main game?

This is definitely the PC.Tribes was born on PC and *Tribes: Ass-End* will be available first on PC in the form of downloadable content.

The game does include tools to promote the game in competition?

Yes.Tribes 2 was ahead of its time in terms of the clans support. We plan to offer tools for coordination during a game and for communications. They will be included in the beta and we later add support for clans.

How will he of cards?

We have four cards in test now.We intend to start the beta with the maps to refine the basic combat and balancing. But then we come out regularly for new cards.

Will leave you an SDK?

We do not expect to release an SDK with the first release. The community is already divided between T1, T2, TV and many mods.In the short term, we are unable to prioritize the release of editing tools that could further divide the community. We want to create a unique version of *Tribes: Ass-End* to find a wide audience.Support editing tools, it will come later.

Will there perks, hats and stuff like that, just three or armor kits and weapon as in the previous Tribes?

We keep the universe and the main factions introduced in the previous Tribes and we will start with the three main armor. But there will be several choices of load-out, and the ability to customize the look of your character.

Will you do something to reward the "Turret Monkeys" and "Heavy One Flag"?

We believe that the best way to play Tribes Ascend is treating it as a team sport, with different positions and specialized roles that work together. We are working on systems that encourage and reward many different roles on the battlefield.

Would you like to comment?

Thank you for these questions! Our team is eager to release a new version of Tribes for fans of FPS as a team!

Instead of buying champions, Tribes players will be buying loadouts. A loadout determines the characteristics of your character in battle -- specifically, their armor type (light, medium or heavy) which also affects movement (heavy units move slowly, light very quicky), the two weapons they will be carrying, the type of explosive they will wield, and what their pack (which can change the dynamic of a character) does.

I'm *dancing* raging at this point. All of those IA days have nothing on this single quote.
