Might and Magic 6,7,8 were/are the best RPG games ever.
Next up after that Morrowind. Then Two Worlds. Then after that all of the rest (Oblivion, Gothic etc).

The witcher 2 short and linear? It has multiple endings, every choice can chance the story,...
It took pretty long to play the game until the end, and that's without side-quests. I'm now playing it for the second time, taking some other choices, and already now the story is totally different. The witcher 2 is easily the best RPG of this year, and I'm not even sure if skyrim can change anything about that (for me).
