That won't happen. The trails have been deliberately shortened, with game design and balance in mind. Because of that their lenght is part of the serversided scripts (like the other essential stuff - damage values, health etc.), and you're not able to modify these (at least not at the moment - that might change once player-hosted servers are possible).
