I'm using my laptop which has 4gb of ram. But, only 2.48gb is usable. I'm aware that my built in graphics card can take some ram.

I installed a 32bit OS too... Not sure if that's something to do with it?

32bit OS is likely the problem. If you're looking to upgrade you'll want a 64bit OS, though others may have a better solution.

When I installed my new motherboard, I got 8GB of ram, but my computer only showed I think 4GB. Turns out it was cause I had the 32-bit version of win7. So I changed it to 64-bit. Problem solved! But this website helped a lot.
