Sin, I don't appreciate the "bunch of idiots" remark, and maybe when you grow up you can talk a little nicer with the big boys. My father is a History professor at a major University here in the U.S., and we debate on subjects like this for fun. 57romance; Pertaining to your squeaky clean image of China, we have proof that they have hacked several major communications corporations here in the U.S. and have stolen the newest/next generation technologies from them, then turned around and opened companies (here also), to compete in the telecommunications market at a competitive level against our companies without ever having had to pay the millions for research & development. The CIA traced the hack from all of these different companies to a military base in China. China denies doing it of course, and stated that they don't appreciate us trying to stain their image. Mining for Nickel puts by far the worst carcinogens into the atmosphere than any other type of refining. China has constructed several dozens of these mines with no filtration whatsoever, and are contaminating their cities so bad, that when my Dad visited China last year, he said "The sky at high noon in the major cities rivals what is considered to be dusk to the rest of the world". (He speaks from experience, having visited more than 100 countries). He also said that most people wear dust masks, unaware that they provide no protection from particulates. And what about that string of Islands off of the coast of Japan, (owned by a Japanese businessman), that China says is theirs now for reasons unknown? Chinese & Japanese fighter craft lobbed a couple of missiles at each other the other week, but the situation didn't escalate. I'm not saying we are any better "morally" than anyone else, (another point Sin missed entirely), but that we as separate cultures see things so differently, that it is hard for us to get along. This fact coupled with a sheer lack of trying on the part of several countries doesn't make for a good progress toward peace. With oil reserves running out in the next 50 years, and the fact that only 3% of the world's water is fresh water, (a lot of which is polluted to the point of not ever being drinkable again), the increasing population, & global warming etc., the only way for us to survive as a species is to combine all of our efforts, and tackle these problems that we all face. As you can all agree, that should have been done long ago to avoid things from getting as bad as they already have. Still, in the face of destruction, we just can't seem to do such a seemingly simple thing as get along to ensure the continuation of the Human Race.....Shame on us. Remember, we are not destroying the Earth. If we make this planet inhabitable, we are only writing our Symphony of Destruction. We will be gone, but the Earth will heal itself over time.
