Sooooo, the Radeon HD 7970 released today, with its fancy shmancy GCN architecture on a 28nm process. Thoughts? Remarks?

Looking pretty good, I thought they weren't going to be much more than a rehash of the 6000 series, but reviews have been very positive.

The lower-end cards in the series are actually rebrands from the 6000 series.

Benchmarks ^

Looks very promising in terms of performance, and this is only the reference design too so hopefully companies will be able to take the card and fine tune it.

Yar, it's looking like the 7600s and down will be all rebrands. If anyone's interested here's an article with more information.
