Loadout System

Ok, you guys deserve to know this.
Part of added customization means that we are moving away from "specialist" weapons. Making 2 sets of a weapon, one being weaker and the other stronger, was just a balance nightmare and often made 1 of the 2 useless or overpowered. Either it is considered a unique weapon on its own or it isn't. If it wasn't unique, just more powerful, it should be scrapped and/or redesigned. This makes adding new weapons much easier too, since each can have a specific role in use and we don't have to worry about the standard+specialist aspect.

So that means the specialist chaingun and laser weapons are gone. Cluster will be balanced as a separate individual weapon (not OP+useful), and RLS is also being redesigned. So you might enjoy having the normal grenade + the Cluster, or both the new RLS and the Cluster in the same loadout. Class limitations may apply like Outrider can't carry Cluster (still testing if that is necessary or not). More details will emerge as we finalize all the aspects in correlation with adding new material to the game.

exciting! :D
sounds like the weapons will be getting an overhaul!

i specifically liked the words: "you guys deserve to know this"

Well I used to play as a raider with the CG, RL and GL, the most basic loadout in the game, so I'd like to know if this loadout will still be available, cause I really liked being able to have the 3 weapons at my disposal.

So will Cluster be nerfed from what it was at the time of IA's closing? Having a little trouble getting my head round what you meant there.

Another interesting thing I'd like to know is how the two types of weapons we previously had will be handled now, if the devs will implement something like an attachment system to obtain some effects from the weapons, like having the 500 rounds and overheat reduction for the chaingun and the other added effects in the weapons, because this could really mean heavy customization according to a person's specific gameplay style and preferences.

This sounds excellent! Are you planning on maintaining the previous weapon limits per armor type or perhaps instituting a point-buy type system for class customization? Sorry, I know this question is probably not something that has an answer yet, but it was the first thing that popped into my head.

I've always played outrider. Started out as sniper specialist, sucked at it for several months, so then I went to CG and RL. Customization with certain limits sounds good, since outriders would be useless with the cluster. The cluster is definitely more of a defensive weapon, and putting it on a class best suited for taking the flag and running wouldn't make any sense. Nerfing the cluster is something I wouldn't have any problem with, and neither should any other capper who was caught in that fiery rain. It covered a large area and did a bunch of damage. I guess the HoF loved it because they certainly used it a lot.
I'm glad we deserve to know some stuff that's going on. I'm also looking forward to customizing the loadouts however the system works, I'll be happy about it.
