I was not the one who brought project "Z" in to this topic.
This is about Legions Overdrives, failings and future.

Again: Please only post things related to the topic, I knows its not easy for some.

The game's like 6 years old, took like a year off during that time, and never had a big playerbase to begin with. That's why it's dead.

It's also hard to take your opinion seriously when you've called *Tribes: Ass-End* a outright failure (I'll allow Vengeance to be called a failure without questioning it!)

I gotta stop you there, What everyone calls a tribes player now isn't what we had in 98-99 when people actually played the game. The real tribes players still call T2 a failure, and it was to anyone who loved T1. Different generations, The real Tribes players left well before all the disappointments of T2, T:V and T:A. Everyone since 99...= scrubs.

Legions didnt fail. IA did. Once the last major 'Thursday' update happened, it began to 'die'. Not for months did we have anything new... till Mabel, we PuG tested some of Mabels tweaks, that got in eventually, then silence once more. Then Nanu servers and the EU ones came online. Then those died when IA died.

Legions did not.

It lived on by people that played it. Even if the community was smaller, it was still here. (HELLO, WE HAD COMPETITION!) We had changes and add-ons here and there. PT was alive and kicking. Everything. Then people got bored. Thats all, people didnt want to play it anymore. Just like every other game. As someone already said: It ran its course.

I played Legions since a month after open beta. (I got into the pick up/comp scene much later) I will always remember my time here. It wasnt a waste. It was fun. I met so many people, made friends and enemies. A rollercoaster of emotions and excitement. Sadness. Despair. Greatness. Wonder. Speed. HoF. MABEL-HAN! Do the Mornaval! (I was in the first pick up on Mirage, one of the few.) Specialist loadouts. Zeta, CM, Jenkins, HH, Void, Vv, OG clothes-line sniper. Misty Mountain Hop. Pretzel05. Graydoubt. One-Small-Step... just a few I could dredge up right now.

I have many memories of this game, and it failing isn't one of them.

I don't know how you can guarantee 'Z' will deliver, when at-least two teams of paid developers, tried to make successful tribes or tribes2, successors and they failed.
I hope you know the facts why these games were failing. I think Archetype team has more chance to success than any of the previous teams after T1 who has been working with Tribes francise games or any other FPS+Z game. Each game has had their limitations, which complicated the process and games came out half finished and/or with stupid decisions which end up ruining the experience for most.

Every coin has two sides.

I only started playing a couple years ago but i can tell you why most people left that I know of: The community. Like 60% of this community used to be HUGE assholes that never acknowledged that their toxic attitudes were hurting the game and the other 40% for a long time just denied it was going on. I would lose a flag in my noobishness and what happened? 3 teammates would be tk'ing me for 10 minutes to punish me and if you say anything to anyone they would be like "Oh tell so and so fat ass dev" when half the time the devs were just as douchebaggy.

Now its just like 30 people and never anyone new, im like still the freshest account that stuck around in this game.

Dont *dancing* joke yourself, its not content, its not advertisement or legal restraints, its the community, it always has been. Its either losers that think being good in this game puts them above others, or the people that pretend the community isnt that toxic and that its just a few players. Recently when i was teaching newer people how to play all that happened was like 1 person helped me, the others were *dancing* with me or the guy i was teaching or talking about how much i suck and should give up anyways. Some of you are real losers...blaming the content or devs just makes me laugh to be honest.

Maybe ContingencyPlan is right and Legions never had the backing to have failed it, it was in IA, but the game wasnt dead with 100 active players still supporting a competitive scene, and im proof that at some point new players were showing up and trying the game out. I just dont give a *dance* about any of you so i didnt care how ill you treated me for being new. Id say i probably give a *dance* about Karnage though, that guy was a positive force in the community from what I saw.

Yar, there were definitely a lot of egos at play and it wasn't always the friendliest or easiest environment to get into. I'll give kudos to the community members who went out of their way to attempt to make the game easier on newcomers (community attempts to make PUGs more accessible, for example).

Definitely agree that Karnage was a good guy to have around, a lot of the 'veteran' community didn't agree with him, and he put up with a lot of abuse because of it - but he always cared about the game and making it accessible for new players. Plus, the fact that he was a burly, hairy beast of a man put him in Seymour's good books too.

Mmmh. That is the issue in games with small playerbases. It's always ben and always will be. I can change the game as much as I want but I can't change the people who play it. The larger games have this same group of "elite veterans" that have a huge group of egos attached to it however the playerbase being so large it still leaves out some "newbs to mess with each other".

The fact is that L:O community (And actually the whole Tribes and fpsZ "masters of the PC master race") has a huge *dancing* portion of egoistic assholes who think that "mastering" the Z aspect makes them better than any other gamer out there. You can expect this to be the case on every *dancing* future fpsZ game as well. Only thing you can hope is that it becomes popular enough right out the box to support new players as well.

L:O didn't.

Also. I admit I'm not a "positive" force in the community but *dance* me if I ever tore down a new guy just because he was new.

Hugs and kisses,
The next guy

So i hate to point out the obvious.. There is no I in team.. but there is Meat.. and you are a *dancing* meat head.
Don't come around here with your passive aggressiveness. Players like you that joined the forums so late and never sat in IRC don't understand the personalities we use to have around. Everyone was harmless, vulgar and trolly, but harmless. When you don't take time to get to know anyone or the people your talking about you can't judge them, that makes you an asshole or a christian. pick your poison.
When i started playing i got hazed and be littled, and i took it. It happens in any game, and 90% the people who give you *chocolate cookies* are the people you end up building a bond with.

For instance Outlawl and Rizzle(Strife) rode me for the longest time in the start, i was horrible. They verbally abused me, beat me up and took my lunch money just to have enough to pay my mother to blow them. And i love those fuckers for it and miss them very much.

There were a lot of good people with positive attitudes who worked hard to bring the community close together all throughout this game's history, but who cares because some random new player shows up and "60% of the community is garbage trash" "I just dont give a *dance* about any of you"

Coincidentally some at the most play games of the moment have ridiculously toxic communities.
Toxicity has never been a problem for games. It might increase the experience but I doubt anyone left because of people beating them up.

I think the majority of hardcore competitive games have similarly toxic communities. Legions isn't any different. The FPS-Z genre isn't any different. It's just the nature of competition.
