Kills / Deaths

I was wondering if there is any way we can see how many kills and deaths we have with the score after pressing Esc , or did the devs haven't added that in yet ?

Deaths are pretty meaningless in legions, since so many of them are forced respawns. Stay home LD and LO get 'good' scores for deaths, and chase/cappers get horrible scores, as they have to respawn constantly. Plus counting them encourages new players to not respawn frequently, which is not good behavior. Watch any top player play, and you will see them suicide all the time.

There isn't a K/D statistic anymore, it's all calculated into your total score.
This is probably threading on another discussion, but how does this work? The game doesn't seem to tell you when you've gained or lost points, which threatens to turn the score at the end of the game into a meaningless and fairly random number.

the only relevance I've seen to individual score is a slight indicator as to how effective you are overall in individual moments... I've lost many a game even though being the top score. Was I not effective? In the moment I was effective, but trying to do it all by yourself is never efficient for the team, = loss.

also, sup aero! ltnt :)

Hey man, it's been a while. How's things?

I'm pretty sure the devs made the new score system involve teamwork to some degree. And yeah, the individual scoreboard is not entirely relevant for winning, but isn't getting rewarded for awesome things fun? This is an awesome incentive to do more awesome things which makes the already awesome game awesomely more awesome.

Generally the team with the higher overall score is winning the game, it is pretty accurate in that regard.

Score includes things like kills, caps, assists, kills on offense, kills on defense, flag caps, flag carrier kills....tons of stuff, with lots of modifiers.

yeah, i'd agree with the team with highest overall score will probably be winning. I think it would be interesting to have more of a breakdown though, just for interests sake. How many points from caps, kills, returns, etc...

How can you say that? You're not told when you gained points, but you can tell that after a kill, or a capture, or a flag return, you've gained points since your total score has changed. There are fixed values for the points you get, probably preset by Mabeline.

On a more serious note, I don't think people should worry about their K/D ratio, or their total score. You could have more points than someone else, but that other person could have retrieved the flag at a crucial point, or e-grabbed the flag right as the enemy capper was going to score. What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't confuse a player's total score with effectiveness or skill.

I'm saying that because, to the player, there is no evident connection between action and effect. Unless you're watching the scoreboard all the time you're not going to figure out what's being rewarded in what way. And therefore, you're not going to figure out what you're supposed to do more and what you're supposed to do less.

Showing caps and kills and returns would be a nice thing to show in CTF considering they are the most important easily countable aspects of the game.

This is what I've been able to figure out so far.

10 kill
15 carrier kill
2-3 for assist
35 cap

This might be a bug, but after I damage someone and they die due to fall damage, I don't get the 10 points for the kill. If they die for any other reason including respawning, I do.

Also, I have noticed that there are no points for returns. IMO, there should be.

The players being ranked by their score is a must though.

Kills are something that should be shown at least when a round is over, deaths don't really matter in CTF. What about scores/kills for Deathmatch mode if it is released? It'd be cool to see assists brought into the scoring system too if they aren't already.

Maybe someone could make a separate scoring mod if needed?

In depth stat tracking is still planned by the way. So if you want to check them in detail, you'll most likely will be able to do so in the future. The question is, if you think that it's really necessary to see them in game.

IMO no. I like to keep it to the scores. We could have a separate link or place where we can check our statistics. That includes global stats.

Sounds cool Gheist, I really don't care about seeing them during a game, just after. I'd like to be able to see on an after game score screen, during the game I could care less. A separate site for stat tracking is something no shooter should be without, that doesn't mean you guys need to do it though, you're doing plenty for players already.
