Personally I think it'd be good to have auto downloads for maps. So when you join a server, the map downloads without having to go on a website to download them.
 
I believe they aren't allowed to do this legally. Something about distributing files they didn't create themselves or something along those lines. It's unlikely IAC is even keeping track of these things though...
 
Its more a security thing , this base functionality is there to be enabled with some modification. With our open scripts though, there are some nasty things people could do without a good amount of security additions engine side.

People are free to distribute their own maps/mods as always if this were a thing. Its when adding someones work to the official version that things need to be signed.
