I really need to choose..quickly.

That's the one I have. It's an awesome all-rounder and it will run intense programs nicely. Very nice display/keyboard/trackpad/sound, which is what you're going to be working with all the time. But if you're going to haul it around, you better get something smaller...

Anyway: if you're at home and you're at a desk: get a desktop. For uni you kind of need a laptop or mac, but if that's two years away you might want to hold on to that.

If you want it for school, I'd probably go with a laptop. If you want it solely for gaming, go for a desktop.

How much FPS do you get in legions?

Also what are the specs you chose!

I've got a i5-560, and definitely go for the FHD display. Legions is smooth as butter. No idea about the actual FPS, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't dive under triple digits.

i will probably get the i7/2830QM
4gb ram
Thr NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 540M 2GB
:)

Its hella cheap!!! if you can get a fps screenie please show me it ASAP :)

IIRC, the 540M is nothing but a 525M with a slightly higher clock. You can save quite a bit by just raising the clock on the 525M. Be sure to get the FHD screen, because that's a -big- difference. It's gorgeous.

Can't get a screenie right now, but check the benchmarks in the reviews: if it can run crysis properly, it can run legions a million times over.

headin to college? Laptop. Just get a nice one that u can game on too. They'll never be as good as a desktop, but, it'll still be good (if u spend enough $$ on it). Generally I push for desktops, but, laptops are quite handy at school.

You could get a cheepo laptop for classes, and a mid range gaming desktop for probably the same price as a nice laptop though.

I couldnt persuade my parents to get FHD so i settled with HD 1366xsomething

i went through a 4 year college without having a laptop. i lived on campus for 3 of the years and brought my desktop with me. Not once did i want or need a laptop either. There are computer laps everywhere, including classrooms, in most universities. Most people (at least in my school) never used their laptop in class anyways.

So i guess it depends if you plan on staying on campus or commuting. If youre commuting, then you'll be on campus more without a place to stay between classes so maybe a laptop would be better... but if you're living on campus, use the money for the laptop for a desktop and set it up in your dorm.
