Legions lore [Leak request ;D]

No one is asking for promises or guarantees, we're asking that you give us an idea what's going on. Personally I'd MUCH rather you tell us that you're looking into adding X new feature to legions and finding out it just wont work than to never know anything at all. You're not InstantAction, nor are you a major game development company. People expect trial and error, and I don't think you give us enough credit. The people still here are the people who went through all of IA and quite frankly we're tired of being on the "outside" not allowed to know anything that's going on. And it just makes it worse when you have no legal reason to not tell us anything.

Just saying, maybe you should try letting people in on what you're doing. Instead of assuming we'll go tyrannical "you didn't do this when you promised!" or "you didn't do that on time!", give us a chance to prove you wrong. If you're right, and the community isn't up to it, just go back the way it was. I think the people here are more mature when it comes to that than you give them credit. And the way things are now, you refuse to even give us the chance.

HIGH FIVE! =D I would Agree but i dont really care, I has my Legions and i can haz falgs at high velocity. But on the otherhand it would be nice to see waht the Dev are up to with well who knows what there up to.

Welcome to being updated with the news. If they were to TELL you that they want to add X maps to the game and in the end they added only half of that would you react differently that if they PROMISED those maps?
Oh and YOU are tired of being on the outside. If you'd ever follow any game as cautiously as you follow L:O then you'd start appreciating how much does the current L:O team get done, how much they tell us and how fast do they get things done... for free. I appreciate that a lot + that might sound a bit mean but it feels like the team is more involved with the community without the video podcasts that were done by crash and wiley...

Now, can we at least count/hope for online episodic Legions fiction serials (as in short stories)? I mean that seems the most effective and efficient way to develop the Legions lore + I'm getting low on fiction lit and from what I've seen on the old IA forums Legions fiction can get pretty interesting :]

EDIT: you don't need to tell us what you are planning to do, but it'd be nice if you made it clear what WON'T you do. Creates a pleasant illusion of being informed :D

Yes, there's a difference between "telling" someone something and "promising" them. So I would be slightly more disappointed if something was promised and fell through. But who on earth is asking for promises about anything?

Oh and YOU are tired of being on the outside.

I assume you're trying to imply you don't share my opinion and that others don't either. But I can assure you even if you don't the vast majority of players I've spoken to about it do share my opinion.

I actually do follow many games this closely. And have never once said that I didn't appreciate the work they do. That's not my problem, it never was. My problem is transparency, and nothing else. This isn't a large game development company, it's a community grown group working on a game that the original Dev team failed on. They have no legal (or logical imo) reason to keep things locked behind huge safe doors and not just tell us what ideas they've had and where they hope to go with the game. I just think they need to give this community whose stuck with this game for years a chance before writing it off as not even worth trying.

I appreciate that a lot + that might sound a bit mean but it feels like the team is more involved with the community without the video podcasts that were done by crash and wiley...

The difference is they're actually working on the game. Crash and Wiley had no direct connection to Legions itself, they were InstantAction community managers. IA stopped working on Legions ages before the arcade went down, so how exactly you expect to feel connected to a game not being worked on through people who were never working on it I'm not sure at all. However as to being connected to their community itself (nothing to do with the game) Crash and Wiley were easily better.

Anyway, my point isn't to argue this with random people in the forums. It was to point out what people see as an unnecessary problem, and try to have some light shed on it.

What more story do we need other than people in robotic battle suits taking the enemy's holy flag in their base, running back to their base while they are shelled with grenades and rockets, to ultimately either explode into a million pieces (and then the chasers voluntarily do the same) or make the two holy flags make contact to eradicate some evil presence?

OR SOMETHING.

There needs to be a romantic subplot of some sort.

Also, like mr Disci said, lets try to keep things on topic. I would like to point out one thing:

Will there be any new maps/content?

There likely won’t be any new content available in time for the first release, but there are plans for new content to be added into the game. While we don’t have specific time frames for the new content, stuff that we are focusing on include: tweaks to existing map designs, new art assets, new maps, new gametypes, base assets, and revamped support material (revamped statistic tracking, etc).

Even in our FAQ, the direction and planned features for the game are listed. The only thing that's under wraps (and GReaper already explained why) are the specifics. As these specifics become more clear and defined, we'll start talking about them. A lot.

As for not being as involved with the community as DrWiley and Crash7800 were, Seymour's a little hurt. I view myself as part of the community and not as an employee. No, Seymour doesn't have the time, resources, or even knowledge to do podcats or what have you, but I do like to make myself available to the community. And, with that said, the Blog is regularly updated not with announcements of announcements (which was not their fault at all), but with actual information. I think that's something special.

Bleh, anyhow; back on topic: Legions Lore!

Why can't it be happy?

If they earn thier happy ending would it make you more satisfied?
cuz it would suck and i'm tired of the Hollywood happy endings(i know legions has nothing to do with hollywood)..i also hope the legions campaign will be something brutal..about war...and i also hope they will have cutscenes with cool animations

I wouldn't hold my breath on a single-player campaign at all, or cutscenes. Though I wouldn't be surprised if some community members started doing some Machinima-style skits.

They already have. There was a comedy skit that ran until IA went all updatey on his comp.
