This is something I have been thinking about alot and it comes down to this:
A weapon that lobs acid. The projectile follows a downwards arc similiar to the grenade launcher but a little less downwards. The weapon already shoots it a bit upwards. It would lob acid drops every 1 second when you hold the fire button. It will have no splash damage at all. And the acid drops are about the size of a rocket, maybe a little bigger.
That would be the basics of the weapon wich I think is enough, but as I was thinking about it I came up with a few more effects that would make it even more unique.
1- If a acid drop get shot on the ground it will make a spill of acid on the ground that stays there for about 5 seconds. If a player goes over it his speed is reduced for about 5-10% (not really big numbers, but needs testing) Also he would take a very small amount of damage. But we all hover above the ground so in the eyes of realism this does not work. But then again this is a game.
2- If you hit someone with it it will do a x amount of damage. But this is acid we are shooting so it nibbles on you a bit more. So for about 2 seconds it will do a little bit more damage, and really just a very small amount like 2% on a raider. And every hit resets the time of the DoT.
So that is what I was thinking of for a new weapon. It is something completely different and a nice add imo. If you would bring the weapon in without one of those effects then it would be just another weapon, I am aware of that, but it still acts different from the other guns and therefore makes it unique.
