Was it still sit in the Alien universe? I thought I heard Scott ripped out all of the Alien ties or was it just the removal of the Xenomorphs? Hopefully what I read was just Scott mindhumping fanboys and it really does take place in the Alien universe (with hopefully some more description of the Space Jockey race).

As far as I know the idea of a prequel got scrapped, it is still set in the alien world.

IIRC, it is based on a mythology in the Alien universe based on where Humans and Xenomorphs came from.
