Privacy and our online footprints

So I have just been trying to clear up my online footprint, deleting old accounts, making sure they aren't linking my information together, a bit of spring cleaning! I'm quickly finding it is a near impossible task, most websites privacy settings are complex and cannot give you total privacy.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove your legions profile from google searches?

How do others feel about their online information? I can appreciate that it is a two way proccess, we want to access websites and they need to know things about their clients to operate. Without our info the whole sign up concept would be a little counter-intuative. However it is astonishing the amount of information that can be drawn together using just a user name or full name and a google search.

Be careful where you make your accounts and if you use firefox use the foxyproxy add on. It will sheild your ip( this is if you truly want to erase your footprint) or incognito mode in chrome.

Don't post your full name anywhere. I don't care if its a government site, a site of your friends, any site at all because most likely a google search will find your full name. Use your nickname, mine is DKnight556 everywhere i go ( even if they ask for a real name its DKnight556 .

No you can not. Since the site gives your profile page a specific URL you can not hide it

Never use real info ever, same name for everything from since when I was young so there is real info of me floating around but I have been planning to rename for a while just couldn't find any names I liked :]

I also have like 10 hotmail accounts but that's just because I always get banned
