Site's down - I managed to sign up yesterday. For those wondering, Mega offers 50GB of cloud storage for free. The advantage is that Mega offers symmetric 2048-bit RSA encryption, which means that the user has access to both the public and the private keys. This offers a pretty damn good amount of security. That's different than other cloud storage providers because usually the provider has the ability to decrypt your data. The (discreet) idea behind this is that if people upload copyright infringing material, Mega can say "hey look we can't decrypt the data, we didn't know it was infringing!"
 
My guess would be server load, but that's just speculation.

The site, like many others, is a file locker. No matter where you go on the internet piracy will exist, that's just a fact. Though I'm excited for MEGA, it's fast, safe, and best of all I can get the new season of avatar out of america without legal backlash. What was I saying about piracy again?
