Failed to initilize Direct3D

soo, I recently updated to directx 11, or whatever the latest one is. I keep getting this error message and it saying make sure I have DirectX 9 installed, but I already have a newer one. Any ideas whats wrong?

Uhh, did you restart your pc/laptop after I installing Directx 11, I've quite often seen updates fully install only after the computer is restarted.

Also, log files?

yah, I dropped my laptop that day. The screen was cracked (needed to get it fixed), but otherwise it looked fine. I later discovered the fan wasn't working, so the comp was overheating. I'ma either replace it or just return it and get a better one. Tho I have to wait a bit, I only bought the extended warranty after I dropped it, sooo, reporting a drop the same day as I bought the warrenty is an instant red flag....yah. You can lock this now I guess.
