Attack and Defense Setting (For the Future)

I might be getting ahead of myself on this one since self-hosted servers hasn't been implemented yet. But, what if there was a setting for teams that wanted to practice for a PUG or competition. No other way I know how to explain it other than attack and defense. Where as there's only 1 flag on one side and the team needs to defend or cap. Something along the line of that anyways.

what stops you from doing that with the current ctf mode once hosting private servers become available?

Actually, having the normal 2 flags is best, as once the Offence has the flag, the Defense can e-grab the other flag.

Okay, I know WHAT it is, but what the heck does the "e" in "e-grabbing" stand for? It feels like I should be able to infer it, but my brain's not being kind today.

And yes, slight topic deviation. Don't worry! We'll make it through this tempest okay.

Ah sorry, "e-grab" Refers to emergency grab. This is where the enemy has your flag, but you do not have theirs, everyone on the defense goes over to the enemy base to grab the flag in hopes one of them will break though.

Ah, "emergency." Yeah, that makes sense. I knew the context, but not knowing the etymology of the term was ticking me off. =)

Thanks a bunch! Please return to your previously scheduled discussion.

I would have to disagree with you, just means that the team has to work harder to defend off the offensive team, which in turn means the offensive team has to be more synchronized and crafty.

Eh, dunno who the servers will be when they let us host our own. So can't expect to be able to do all that I used to.

Erm, This is what happens despite there being 1 or 2 flags, the offence AND the defense have to be working as a team

I think Fire's point, bud, is that everything you're describing -- the game restrictions, the gameplay style, the situation in which it will be played -- can all be easily controlled by the clan doing the practicing. Given that Mabel's time is precious, and how many other things most assuredly require his attention, coding in a gametype like this (though doubtless a simple affair) is nevertheless too much effort when it can be easily accomplished without any code whatsoever. All a practice leader need say is, "Alpha is on defense, Beta's on offense, no e-grabbing the beta flag since we're just practicing pure flag protection."

In all honesty I have to say that I used to host a game type like this before the game died awhile ago. But, my way of doing is different from Mabel's way of coding it in so it might be a little harder on his end, but I wouldn't know because I haven't the raw code for legions yet. But none-the-less it's still a nice type to have along with some other game types that I have in mind. The reason being that it would be good , for now anyways, is that it's different from what we have already.

If you host the server you are the server.
Current Ctf allows you to play offense/defense thing already.
No need to script a whole new gamemode just because it would be nicer, when you can do it already just fine.
Just a matter of your teammates agreeing to do it.
