A few questions for vid makers.

I'm working on a video (My first) and i have a few questions.

I'm recording with fraps at half size and at 60fps sometimes i notice video lag is that because of the low fps setting or just fraps in general, if you have a better settings config could you please post it.

For video cutting im still on the look out for a small simple cutter that will allow for multiple segments to be snipped and saved, any advice on this would help move the process along fast.

For editing i'm using Corel Video Editor X14, it's simple, fast and light. I also have sony vegas 9.
An editor isn't a big deal at the moment but if you have any that might be better could you post them.

Thanks :)

How many fps you're getting in-game on average? For example, if you've set it to record at 60fps but you're only getting 20-30fps then your comp isn't powerful enough to handle recording with current settings.
Without knowing specific system specs all I can tell you is to try lower resolution and/or Legions Lite.

I assume by video cutting you mean compiling raw footage to smaller bits? I use VirtualDub for that, it's freeware, easy to use (despite messy UI) and surprisingly versatile editing-wise.

I haven't used Sony Vegas but many people have liked it. I did Harmony using CyberLink PowerDirector 9, you can check that vid to get some general idea what you can do with it. Personally I've liked it, very similar UI as in Windows Movie Maker but CONSIDERABLY less prone to crash and more versatile.
If you're familiar with Corel Video Editor X14 and you think you're getting satisfying results, stick with it and fiddle around with effects/transitions etc.

I wouldn't change anything from that really. The recent updates for fraps allow it to record with a much more substantial amount of FPS, so I think you should try that. I'll PM you with the link.

You could also benefit from the method below.
This usually helps get 5-10 fps with fraps recording

Set fraps to its own core and legions to another using ctrl + alt + del and right clicking under processes and set affinity.

TMPGEnc is the simplest when it comes to segmenting footage, though you do have to pay for it. Other alternatives would be VirtualDub or Sony Vegas since you have it.

For editing, Sony Vegas would probably be your best bet. It's a shame that we can't do anything worthwhile with it or barely produce results like these due to the strain Fraps has on gameplay.

End result.

My fps in game is anywhere from 350fps(Action) to 970fps(Sky/ground), Im running an Ati 4850 and an Ati 4870 in crossfire mode.

I used Aimone videosplitter, it's ungodly slow & Corel Studio pro x4, I used alot of the transitions just to see what they were like. In the next one i'll try some time effects.

Really good for first video!

I'd probably go easy on transitions, but you did mention you were trying them out to see how they look like, so no -1 for that.
Songpick, didn't like so much.. frags, nice for person who makes 1st video (but this is coming from person who has done dozen of videos) but flagplay was pretty darn sweet, definitely highlight of this video.
Flagplay at 1:18-1:23 & 2:35-2:45 & 2:54-3:00 were my favourite bits, would like to see more of those.

Overall, much better than my first video.

Yeah it was mostly flag play because fraps was lagging a bit and my MAs were really off with it capturing. Snob has since helped me with that issue so i'll be able to get more MAs in the next one.

Overall, much better than my first video.
Coming from you that means a lot, thanks.
