Theres no specific thread on this, just looked. It was mentioned in another thread but not to extent of a debate.
Actually, there's a huge thread about the health regen system, and the idea of health drops from dead people was a rather large part of that thread, its a few pages in, I believe, and I stood against it there, and I stand against it now. While I think that the current regen system isn't that great while I'm trying to get kills, I like it while on defense and there's a lull so I can recharge my health and get ready for the next wave of LO.
However, with the advent of new cores, and talk of a repair core that may also be used to heal people as an active ability, this suddenly has a few pros and cons.
Pros: This leads to some new areas where teamwork is necessary. There can be two people with the repair core, one on defense and one acting as a flag escort. Also, this will make a new engineer class, which could be pretty cool. (Though I can foresee the use of Osniping to take down the base assets from a distance, so there's that.)
Cons: If nobody chooses to have a repair core in their loadout? No health regen, and most people won't choose to switch cores from whatever best suits their playing style because, well, the repair core won't fit their playing style. This is going to be a bigger problem on PUBs than anything else because PUGs and Team games will probably have at least one person on each team that can use a repair core.
As exciting as the repair core's possibilities are (and keep in mind that these are just possibilities, not certainties, I'm just going off of the possibilities presented by BugsPray on the latest Legions Live, go watch it if you don't know what we're talking about.) There needs to be another method of health regeneration out there.
