Health Regeneration

As everyone probably knows theres a health regeneration currently in legions, and the thought of adding deployables and repair packs makes me wonder if this health regeneration would become obsolete. Also the idea that now each player might have a more unique role with the various cores. If one of the cores will be a repair pack, i would think of this role more of a medic role and maybe this role should be the one with automatic health regeneration, thus making the repair core more useful.

Regardless, I definitely think health regeneration needs to go. It supports passive play styles such as running and hiding. Though if it were taken out, something would have to replace it. A health & ammo kit drop for a kill would be nice. Repair/Medic core is a good idea but as Rex said might be a bit too soon.

Just turn current ammo stations into the Tribes ammo stations, which also repair health. Easy fix.

Nah, makes me think again of deployables.
H...how? You can't buy anything from ammo stations in Tribes. If you were to get rid of health regeneration(which I support), Tribes-like ammo stations are a no brainer. All you get is your health and ammo restored. Nothing else.

Another Tribes route they could go would be repair kits, like mentioned above somewhere. Note: repair kits, not packs. There's a difference.

No picking up stuff from kills. It's stupid, and makes game play similar to Quakelive. That would make most people's main objective to kill when it's CTF. Also Quakelive sickens me, graphics wise as well. :l

Guys, there's a search function. Please use it to find the several discussions on this very topic. Go educate yourselves. And please, Immanent, stop.

Theres no specific thread on this, just looked. It was mentioned in another thread but not to extent of a debate.

Assuming ammo stations will be turned TEAM SPECIFIC I'll support this idea.
Agreed. If the team ever introduces mortars and such, having an indestructible ammo station(assuming they'd stay indestructible) available at the enemy base would be quite bad. As for picking up ammo/health kits from dead bodies, I don't see a problem with this. Hell I'm still a noob at Legions and assume corpses drop ammo.:p

Actually, there's a huge thread about the health regen system, and the idea of health drops from dead people was a rather large part of that thread, its a few pages in, I believe, and I stood against it there, and I stand against it now. While I think that the current regen system isn't that great while I'm trying to get kills, I like it while on defense and there's a lull so I can recharge my health and get ready for the next wave of LO.

However, with the advent of new cores, and talk of a repair core that may also be used to heal people as an active ability, this suddenly has a few pros and cons.

Pros: This leads to some new areas where teamwork is necessary. There can be two people with the repair core, one on defense and one acting as a flag escort. Also, this will make a new engineer class, which could be pretty cool. (Though I can foresee the use of Osniping to take down the base assets from a distance, so there's that.)

Cons: If nobody chooses to have a repair core in their loadout? No health regen, and most people won't choose to switch cores from whatever best suits their playing style because, well, the repair core won't fit their playing style. This is going to be a bigger problem on PUBs than anything else because PUGs and Team games will probably have at least one person on each team that can use a repair core.

As exciting as the repair core's possibilities are (and keep in mind that these are just possibilities, not certainties, I'm just going off of the possibilities presented by BugsPray on the latest Legions Live, go watch it if you don't know what we're talking about.) There needs to be another method of health regeneration out there.

the reason this thread is here is because of the cores had my noggin thinking about this aspect of the game. To be honest most times then not people kill themselves rather then stay and heal which in a way defeats the purpose of having health regeneration. Besides I don't think bumping an old giant thread would be wise specially if the topic is curved around new content being added.

If defense has equipment that needs repaired like turrets, sensors, etc the repair core will be used. If it doesn't there be a chance that no one uses it. Pubs might be different story but if theres enough content added there will be that old term called "farmers" playing the game. My uncle played tribes before and thats all he liked doing was setting up defense, theres nothing like that in legions. Currently legions is kill or be killed and to me i think it is killing off many new bloods.
