Healing gun?

I don't know, I was just thinking of the possibility of a CG that shoot green bullets that slightly heal a team member (or an enemy, so have careful aim!). Or maybe a nade launchar that does an heal to all in its explosion range. I feel like the nade one might be too much, but the CG one would at least mean you couldn't self-heal. What do you guys think? I think its an interesting idea, but I don't know if it would "belong" in this game persay

I kind of prefer a beam-like healing gun that works within a certain radius but can curve/twist/rotate according to the player's position.

Yes, but it has a pretty short distance. I wouldn't mind something like The Link from Unreal Championship.

A healing gun sounds like an awesome idea.

If you guys have ever heard of TF2, basically that would be my take on a healing gun, except there would only be 1 healing gun and there wouldn't be an ubercharge when you hit 100%.

Just a gun that can heal a player up from 100% to 150% or 200%, whatever sounds right, and the heal on the player wears off so it doesn't just stick with you until you respawn or someone damages you.

Sounds awesome, surprised this hasn't been mentioned before.

EDIT: I think they should be restricted to OR so the other team can tactically take them out.

A healing gun would be great.

It should drain your own energy, making anyone who uses it quite vulnerable. You will be unable to jet while using it, so why not be able to use it on yourself?
(Like the tribes one).

Sadly, I don't see something like this being created with health regeneration, maybe if/when health regeneration is replaced with a repair kit, this could become more useful. Or when turrets are added and need to be repaired.

I don't really like the idea of self-healing with it, as it defeats the purpose of health-regen. I also think that the way it drains energy should be the same way as the LR does; you can still ski with it, but it will drain ur energy making skiing hard to manage. I see it mostly as a defensive weapon, where you could be an escort healing your capper on a return route, or probably more likely healing a HoF holding the flag. It probably wouldn't be very useful in actual fights and duels, so I don't see why it would mess with health regeneration. Turret reparation would be another reason to use up a weapon slot for a healing gun (I'm thinking that it could both do minor healing to teammates and repair turrets, not one or the other. I mean, we do wear techy suits don't we? :p ). Anyways, I think it is worth a try, and to make a simple one like a healing CG or a healing RL shouldn't be too hard to make and test out as you can just make its damage negative (I think?). Also, another idea that could be cool is a flak gun, where like the cluster, it explodes on release, but it just makes several explosions in a cloud near it. It can be either damage or a heal thing, whichever one makes more sense. Also hitting the ground nullifies it, or just makes a small explosion. The point is to use it in air (so damage would probably make the most sense, although a green healing cloud would be fun). Kinda like the flak gun on this game: http://www.crazymonkeygames.com/BowMaster-Prelude.html. Sorry, I like to ramble

I like Piggeh's idea (Healing gun á la TF2) I think that could add to skilled skiing and tandem cap routes.

After the next patch I will get to work on creating a server mod with all the weapons, as well as all the weapons as heal weapons. I unfortunately do not know how to code a curvable link like in TF2, but I assume I can just make the LR's RoF insanely low so it acts like a straight beam. This way we can test whether we like a healing CG, splash weapon, or beam better. Or all three :p. I'll try and make it very easy to change the numbers so anyone can just go on with their friend and test it out, as I can't keep up a dedicated server, although I'll try and get some people to test them with me. Maybe try and set up a game to test them out in. But lets not get ahead of myself

I like the idea of the heal gun, but there should only be on person on the team that can use the heal gun, but that could can cause problems in public servers

I dislike that idea. If there was a team of sentinels, they could all hof and it would be quite hard to even grab the flag. Same thing if there was a team of snipers. I like the idea that teams can be comprised of anything they want. Having a team of all hofs means you are sacrificing offense. A team of multiple healers means you are sacrificing damage. You cannot deal damage while healing. So if you are in a 3v3 fight, and 2 enemies are using their heal guns, just target them as they cant attack you back without switching weapons and stopping their heal. And I proposed no self-healing so it can't replace the regen core and health regeneration. Also, its only meant to be MINOR heals, like if someone shot rockets at the person your healing constantly, he should still die fairly quickly. You are just prolonging his fate. So, the fact that you are making yourself very vulnerable in a fight when healing more than makes up for it possibly becoming op as long as the heals remain minor. Plus, if everyone on your team is healing each other, you cant deal any damage back to the people shooting at you. Again, just prolonging your fate.

well you actually do have a point there, its basically what you think is best for your team. i was looking over on the op part of the heal gun, if the whole team has that heal the heal should actually be minor as you said.

I think it'd be more natural to have like a healing grenade where someone throws it and whatever it's blast radius is heals everyone for 40 or whatever
