Rain/Snow turn on/off option?

Is it possible that an option to turn rain and snow on/off in game possible?
Deleting the image or erasing it in paint or another program does not work, since even if you mark it as read only, the game will still think the particles are still there.
If an option was coded so it would disable those specific particles, it would help out players with not so good PCs such as I. The snow and rain do decrease fps when playing on those maps that have them.

Sadly this game miserable fails when it comes to video options.
The engine this game runs on is a descendent of the engine Tribes2, runs on,
But sadly does not include even near the settings Tribes2, has for graphics.
If you host, the snow or rain can be disabled in the maps mission file..

But is it possible at all to even code an option to remove it when you hop on any server?

It wont work in paint because it doesn't save alpha channels.. use gimp or something. Lots of players have this modded.

Or just grab a tiny transparent png off google images

This games engine is a descendent of the tribes2 engine, what was the reason those torque devs removed so many graphics options?
